Communication aids in Oxford!

Do you live in or near Oxford? Learn all about the latest communication aids at the Communication Matters Road Show, taking place at the Kassam Stadium, Oxford on Thursday 10 June 2010 (9.25am-3pm).

The roadshow provides an overview and an update of specialised communication aid technology for use by people with complex communication needs. It's a valuable opportunity to learn about communication aid technology from some of the UK’s leading suppliers of communication aids and software. There will be opportunities for questions and hands-on trial of systems, and lots of valuable handouts and literature to pick up.

What will I see?

Delegates will attend five workshop sessions in which the companies will present and demonstrate products such as:

  • Light Tech (e.g. BIGMack, Talking Buddy Buttons, Step-by-step communicators)
  • Mini speech output (e.g. Allora, adVOCAte, Chat PC 4, GoTalk, LEO, PortaCom, SpringBoard, VocaFlex)

  • Communication software (e.g. Boardmaker, Communicate series, Day Planner, Eurovocs suite, EZ Keys, Grid 2 & Grid Mobile, Memory Message, Mind Express, PCS & Widgit symbol libraries)
  • Vocabularies (e.g. CALLtalk, ExpressTalk, Ingfield Express, Wordpower, Picture Wordpower)
  • Signing and symbols (e.g. PCS, Widgit)
  • Communicator/environment control (e.g. Jive, Powerbox), switches, amplifiers
  • EyeGaze (e.g. Alea, EyeMax, EyeTech, EyeTracker, My Tobii)

  • People new to the field of augmentative and alternative communication
  • Professionals specialising in this field who want to update their knowledge
  • Anyone who works with children or adults with severe speech, language or communication difficulties and are in need of special support with communication
