Teeing up for an ACE golf final

Young golfers around Oxfordshire are preparing themselves for the final of the the ACE Centre Junior Golf Challenge at Frilford Heath Golf Club on Saturday 26 September.

Chris Allen (Junior organiser at Frilford Heath Golf Club and Tournament coordinator) said: “It’s great to see youngsters raising money for children less fortunate than themselves, I’m sure this will turn into a great annual event for junior golfers in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties”

Lena Curtis, Head of Fundraising at the ACE Centre said “It’s great that juniors have been doing something they enjoy and raising money through sponsorship at the same time. As 2009 is our Silver Jubilee we wanted to mark the occasion by doing something special, memorable and fun.”

The Golf Challenge has been taken up by fourteen Golf Clubs across Oxfordshire this year. Junior golfers have participated in a qualifying stableford competition to win pairs places in the ‘four ball, better ball’ final. Trophies were awarded for First and Second place as well as for best front nine, best back nine, nearest the pin and longest drive at each qualifying round.

The winner and runner up from each club now pair up to compete against each other in the final to be held at Frilford Heath Golf Club on Saturday 26 September.

The ACE Centre Advisory Trust have provided a range of trophies for the final to include Winning Pair, Second Pair, Third Pair and the impressive Club Trophy which will be presented to the Winning Pair’s Golf Club, a fantastic addition to their trophy cabinet.
